At Deefer Diving we like to provide you with diving that we ourselves enjoy! This means that we go to a variety of good dive sites and we keep our groups small (no more than 4 divers per guide) to make sure everybody gets a great diving experience. For customers on yachts, we also provide a pick up service from Sandy Island & Tyrrel Bay.

Lionfish are an invasive species in the Caribbean region. Their voracious appetites cause damage to fragile reef ecologies. For this reason we go out to hunt lionfish as often as we can. If you would like to participate in a lionfish hunt, please let us know! We also offer lionfish hunter training and a PADI distinctive specialty certification!
All our dives are guided by a qualified Divemaster or Instructor. We offer a full service, so you can relax more! We keep our dive groups small, with no more than 4 divers per guide, and we don't mix divers of very different abilities, to ensure you get the best possible scuba experience with us! Guided diving prices include tanks & weights.
Due to the island's southerly location, we benefit from the nutrient rich currents coming in off the Atlantic Ocean, which means our waters are a little cooler than some Caribbean destinations, but our marine life is a little more plentiful and vibrant. There are many excellent opportunities for underwater photographers, as well as gentle sites for beginners, and exciting drift dives for experienced divers who like a challenge! We also offer diving with a special focus, such as macro, wreck and lionfish hunting. We also support REEF.org roving diver fish surveys and the fish fans among our instructors will be happy to help you hone your Fish ID skills!
Our diving is arranged into three zones:
Caribbean 'Park' - encompassing Carriacou's Marine Protected Area, Sisters Rocks, Sandy Island and Mabouya. Sisters Rocks, the most requested of our dive spots, were nominated by renowned dive journalist & explorer Jill Heinerth as one of her 'best diving experiences' in 2016.
Southern Cays - 4 uninhabited islands, brushed by the Atlantic currents, featuring deeper sites with stronger currents. Not for the faint of heart! Diving here usually has larger pelagic encounters as well as there just being 'more'...
Northern Channel - Straddling the border between Carriacou and Union Island, the Channel is also open to the Atlantic currents. This area is great for hunting lionfish. It consists of many patch-reefs teeming with life, and channels we fly through on drift dives. Watch out for Blacktips on the safety stop after a successful hunt!
Dive site choice usually depends on sea conditions on the day, and the ability level of the divers on the boat. We will do our best to accommodate special requests, so if you have a special trip in mind - for example, exciting drift diving in the South of the island - please check with us first, so that we can advise you what times would be best for you to come to Carriacou.
Most of our dive sites are within 10 minutes' boat ride from our dive centre in Hillsborough, but some sites in the South of the island are up to 30 minutes away. Maximum depths are given as a guide - many of our reef dives can also be dived at a shallower level.
